Variable optical attenuator - adapter type has a structure similar to an optical adapter. It utilizes the air gap between the two connectors to realize optical attenuation. However, the air gap can be continuously adjusted and fixed manually. This induces a variable optical attenuation from 0.5dB to 35dB and 40dB.
This component can be used in applications where optical attenuation needs to be frequently adjusted. It has very small size and is very low-cost.
