Electrical Variable Optical Attenuators - MEMS Type

    Model VOA-MEMS
    Price:   US$169.00 US$149.00

Based on MEMS (Micro Electrical Mechanics System) technology, this electrically variable optical attenuator (VOA) is an important reconfigurable component in optical networks. It can be used to achieve the remote control of optical power in the optical networks. Its main applications include optical power equalization, channel transmission equalization in WDM networks, automatic gain configuration for optical amplifiers, and protection of the optical receivers, etc.

This MEMS-based VOA has ultra-small package and exceptionally fast adjustment speed. Furthermore, it is low cost, reliable and environmentally stable. This MEMS VOA complies with reliability tests defined in Telcordia GR1073.

The VOA has three electrical pins. The optical attenuation is continuously adjusted by changing its driving voltage. The voltage is 0~5V.

  • Broad operating wavelength range
  • High reliability
  • Wide attenuation range (0~40dB)
  • Low insertion loss (typical 0.5dB)
  • Low power consumption

  • Optical power control and equalization
  • Receiver protection
  • Channel on/off switching

Order Information:

a: ID of the operating wavelength band, a=C for C band, L for L band.
c: Pigtail Type, c=0 for 250 micron bare fiber pigtail, c=1 for 900 micron loose tube pigtail, etc.
d: Connector Type, d=FA for FC/APC, d=SU for SC/UPC, d=N for no connectors, etc.

x: Type of the attenuation. x=B for Bright type and x=D for Dark type.

e: Electrical pin option: e=2 for two pins (Vcc and GND), e=3 for three pins (Vcc+/Vcc-/GND)
